Benjamin Gillespie

Benjamin Gillespie is a PhD student in Theatre at The Graduate Center (The City University of New York) with an Enhanced Chancellor’s Fellowship. Benjamin holds an M.A. in Theatre Studies from York University in Toronto (2010), where he also received his B.A. with Honours (2009). His research focuses around related interests in queer theatre/theory, performance art, the Modernist Avant-Garde, and intersections in US and Canadian performance practices. He is currently working on an article about affective laboring in the work of Jess Dobkin along with a simultaneous project on performance adaptations of Gertrude Stein’s drama in the mid-to-late 20th century. He is Events Coordinator at The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at The Graduate Center, where he is currently putting together a queer performance series for 2012/13.
